Mudism. A religion based off a metal band. My goal here is twofold. First, to point out just how silly I think religions are, and second, to make a website about a kickass band. Questions? Read on.
In this Truth section, we will go into detail just what exactly Mudism is.
In the Profits sections, you'll find all the information on the band members.
In the Scriptures section, you'll find the most complete and accurate set of Mudvayne lyrics in existence.
In the Holy Days section, the Mudism holidays will be outlined.
The Forums link will take you to a dead forum. Guess I'll work on that... some day.
Well, if you're still interested, read on:
One day I was listening to Mudvayne, and I though to myself that the lyrics were so amazing, they could be holy scriptures. Then, after I picked myself up off the floor, I started brainstorming. The band members could be prophets, and their birthdays and the albums' release dates could be holidays. It all fit so perfectly. Weeks later, after etching out the basic design, I had myself the barebones of a new religion.
Alright, so if you've read this far, I guess you want to know more. I'm against all god-worshipping religions. All of them, but especially Christianity. Why? Well, probably because it's all around me. This country is run by Christians, and many of the people I meet in my daily activities are as well. Now, this little project here is my attempt to poke fun at religion, and how easy it is to come up with one by just pulling things out of your ass.
In order to comply with the standards of what a religion is, I have prepared a canon for you. So, to be a member of this religion, you must comply with the following rules:
1. You must like the band
2. You must not belong to a god-worshipping religion
3. You must rock your face off
That's it. Simple, right.
As Mudists, we believe that Mudvayne is a great fucking band. We believe in the potential of the human race without a god. We believe every human should have the right to do and say as they please, so long as they cause no harm to others.
On the Holy Days, you may choose to worship in any way that fits you best. Listening to Mudvayne, fasting, meditating, all acceptable. This religion is not about strict abidance to rules: you are free to observe the Holy Days as you wish.
